Ayodele Alabi, award-winning communications professional and author, is set to unveil three new books on June 12.
The books — ‘Congratulations, You’re a Work in Progress’, ‘My Work in Progress Practice Journal’, and ‘Ashes to Air’ — explore themes of personal growth, resilience, identity, healing and self-discovery.
Alabi, who is the head of integrated communications at Nigerian Breweries Plc and founder of Happiest Girl in the Room, described the publications as resources for individuals, families, parents and young people navigating life’s challenges and transitions.
According to the author, ‘Congratulations, You’re a Work in Progress’ examines the idea of growth as evidence of life and follows characters grappling with questions of identity, belonging, ambition, grief, leadership and self-worth.
She said the book encourages readers to embrace continuous personal development rather than view imperfection as a weakness.
“Too often, authenticity is misunderstood as simply being whatever we are in the moment,” Alabi said.
“But authenticity is not the absence of growth. It is the willingness to take responsibility for who we are becoming. This book is an invitation to embrace that journey.”
She said the title challenges the notion that being a “work in progress” is something to conceal, arguing instead that growth and evolution should be celebrated.
The publication draws on themes central to Happiest Girl in the Room, a wellness and lifestyle platform founded by Alabi to promote authenticity, resilience, purpose and joy.
The second publication, ‘My Work in Progress Practice Journal’, is a guided journal designed to help readers translate reflection into action through prompts, exercises and personal exploration.
According to Alabi, the journal provides a space for individuals to document lessons learned, personal growth and the process of becoming.
‘Ashes to Air’, a poetry collection, explores love, loss and renewal through reflections on memory, resilience and recovery after life-altering experiences.
The collection examines themes of absence, transition and emotional healing while highlighting the possibility of growth and new beginnings amid uncertainty.
