Mothers, daughters and aspiring young professionals gathered at Soweto Hotel to celebrate womanhood through motivation, networking and personal development. Speakers encouraged women to embrace their power, confidence and purpose.
Women of different ages gathered at Soweto Hotel on May 30 for the Mrs eSoweto event, aimed at celebrating, educating and empowering women and their daughters.
The event brought together mothers, daughters, young women interested in modelling, motivational speakers and local women-owned businesses.

Participants were asked to develop family connections while at the same time learning life lessons from experienced speakers.
Mrs eSoweto and Miss Teen eSoweto founder and director Fikile Motau explained that the theme was inspired by Mother’s Day.
“We thought it was appropriate to end Mother’s Day month with a twist of mothers bonding with their daughters and teaching them some life lessons,” she explained.
During the event, several guest speakers talked about personal experiences as well as empowering women.
Co-MC Sharleen Jones, who recently lost her husband and is raising two young children, talked about how participating in Mrs eSoweto helped her gain confidence when she needed it the most.
“You may think that you are having tough moments until you hear somebody else narrate theirs, and feel better,” she explained.

NLP and spiritual life coach Neo Mangwana talked to women about protecting their minds, eyes, ears and tongues.
She emphasised the importance of believing in oneself and identifying with oneself.
Mangwana said that intelligence and confidence are two other strong traits that can make women successful in life.
The winner of Mrs eSoweto, educator Ncamisile Thipe spoke to the guests about the roles women play within families and communities.
“Women have been blessed with power, but it’s so much that we fail to realise that,” she said. “For a family to be run properly, women should be involved.”
One of the youngest speakers at the conference was 12-year-old Tshegofatso Makapila.
She gave a speech about her experience in Miss Teen eSoweto competition and urged girls to believe in themselves.
“For the teen girls, please have confidence in yourself and believe in yourself and never let fear consume you,” she said.

Finally, fitness and wellness expert Vicky Malete inspired the women to focus on their happiness and well-being.
She urged attendees to form relationships and enjoy their life.
The event offered opportunities for local women entrepreneurs to showcase their products by displaying them on exhibition stands. Models displayed clothes from certain brands.
During the day, there were a lot of positive messages being conveyed about the capabilities of women through sharing experiences.
There was a constant mention of biblical lessons and the participants were inspired to understand their worth and purpose in life.
It ended with networking sessions, product showcases and celebrating women from different walks of life.
