Nintendo has announced hackers did not take any development or business information when they accessed its systems last week.
Last weekend, hackers claimed they had “breached” Nintendo servers and stolen internal data, providing a screenshot of a number of Nintendo “topic files.”
Now, however, in a statement to The Sankei Shimbun (thanks, IGN), Nintendo downplayed the intrusion, claiming the breach was purely limited to data on its websites.
In a brief statement, the Japanese game maker said: “We have not confirmed any leak of personal information, and there has been no leak of development or business information.”
It also chose not to comment on the continuing fallout from the breach of developer Game Freak’s servers last year despite fresh news this week that a number of major development secrets, including the series’ roadmap until 2030, have leaked online.
A year ago, Game Freak confirmed that a breach resulting in the leak of employee data occurred in August 2024, with 2,606 cases of current, former, and contract worker information accessed. The data breach also included the alleged codenames for the Switch 2, the next generation of Pokémon games, and an unannounced title.
