Eckstein featured during Forge ECI event
Forge ECI held its annual luncheon on June 4, with a panel of mayors discussing growth, opportunities, and future of communities in east central Indiana.
Mayors participating on the panel were Dan Eckstein of Hartford City, Chad Spence of Union City, Ron Oler of Richmond, Greg York of New Castle, Bill Rock Jr. of Gas City, Ronald Morrell of Marion and Mike Pavey of Rushville. They shared updates about economic development, workforce initiatives, housing, infrastructure investments, and quality-of-life enhancements in their communities.
Also during the meeting, regional officials shared information about Indiana’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) projects. More than 90% of the region’s funding from the first round of READI has been disbursed.
“That’s a reflection of the hard work happening across our communities, the strength of our project partners, and our region’s ability to move projects from concept to reality,” said Caitlin Hancock, president and CEO of Forge ECI. “Just as importantly, we’re that our region is ready to put investment to work. We have the partnerships, the capacity, and the diligence to take ambitious projects and turn them into meaningful outcomes for our communities.”
Supporting Kart
Kate’s Kart will be partnering with area businesses for its annual ice cream social fundraiser on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28.
Kate’s Kart is a non-profit organization that provides books to children who are hospitalized. During the days of the fundraiser, participating businesses will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales to Kate’s Kart.
Participating businesses include Springer’s of Pennville, Ashley’s Ice Cream Cafe of Marion and The White Cottage Sweet Shoppe of Berne on June 27; and The Tasty Spoon of Hartford City Jamie’s Cafe of Bluffton on June 28.
Kate’s Kart will be at the participating businesses giving our goodie bags and books. The give-aways are supported by a donation from Parco.
Center opening
Indiana Treatment Centers will open a new facility in Muncie.
A grand opening is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, for Indiana Treatment Centers Muncie, 3000 S. Tillotson Ave., Muncie.
The new site will provide substance use disorder and mental health treatment services. Those include medical detox and residential treatment.
“The opening of this new inpatient treatment center in Delaware County is long overdue,” said Jeffrey Hansard, Chief Probation Officer for Delaware County. “For years, our community has faced some of the highest rates of negative outcomes connected to substance use disorders while lacking enough local treatment options for people who were ready to get help. This center fills a critical gap in our local continuum of care and represents hope, access, and a stronger local response to one of the most serious issues facing our community.”
New VP named
Farm Credit Mid-America has named Chase Harris as its new vice president of agricultural lending for the east central region of Indiana.
Harris has worked for Farm Credit Mid-America for 10 years, including most recently as regional vice president for the crop insurance team in northern Indiana. He is a graduate of Ball State University with a degree in communications and professional selling.
“Chase truly cares about helping agriculture and rural communities thrive and has the knowledge and experience to make a meaningful impact on our current and future customers,” said Gary Coleman, Farm Credit Mid-America regional vice president of agricultural lending in Indiana.
Expansion announced
JD North America announced plans last week to expand its headquarters in Fisher’s.
The company is home to JD Sports and Finish Line brands. It is a subsidiary of the United Kingdom-based JD Group.
“As JD Group continues to expand its global footprint, strengthening our North American headquarters here in Indiana is a top priority,” said John Hall, CEO and managing director of JD North America. “This investment in the Fishers District gives us the runway we need to keep innovating and growing. We’re creating a premier, talent-driven workplace that matches the energy of our retail stores. We love calling Indiana home, and we’re proud to drive job growth and economic momentum in the state that has supported us for decades.”
The new 355,000-square-foot facility will be located along Interstate 69, just north of 106th Street.
