VICTORIA, Texas – Some customers inside The New Rodeo were surprised to hear that they were ordering the final meals from the restaurant on July 5. After 20 years, the Tex-Mex restaurant shuttered its doors for the final time.
A social media post on June 28 let some customers know that the restaurant’s final days were approaching.
“After 20 wonderful years sharing with you, our family business will close permanently,” the restaurant said in a statement, “We want to thank you for every visit, every smile and for allowing us to be part of your lives.”
It has been at the same location on East Rio Grande Street since its inception.
The New Rodeo is the latest restaurant to stop operations after several in recent months in the city. Some have cited rising costs for supplies and ingredients, while others have claimed shrinking customer bases have made an impact on business as well.
The New Rodeo will close its doors for the final time at 10:30 p.m. on July 5.
