Lagos – The Special Assistant, Delta State Governor on Women Mobilisation, Oghenede Emmanuella Ufuoma, has intensified community empowerment initiatives, delivering educational support, financial assistance, vocational training and relief materials to widows, students and vulnerable residents.
The interventions, according to Ufuoma is part of sustained efforts to strengthen women empowerment, youth development and community welfare.
She said that the programmes are designed to improve livelihoods, expand educational opportunities and provide practical support for vulnerable groups amid prevailing economic challenges.
One of the major initiatives was a student sensitisation programme held at Ekakpamre Grammar School in Ekakpamre Community, Ward Seven, Ughelli South Local Government Area, where students received guidance on education, discipline and personal development.
Addressing the students, Ufuoma urged them to remain committed to their studies and develop qualities that would prepare them for responsible leadership and meaningful contributions to society.
She also warned against teenage pregnancy, cultism and other social vices capable of undermining educational attainment, personal growth and future career opportunities among young people.
Students were encouraged to embrace self-development opportunities through skills acquisition and empowerment programmes being implemented under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda to improve their prospects.
The sensitisation programme concluded with the distribution of sanitary pads to female students and mathematical sets to male students, reinforcing efforts to support learning while addressing essential educational needs.
Beyond educational interventions, the Special Assistant also distributed more than ₦2.3 million in financial assistance to male and female beneficiaries through a Facebook Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
The financial support formed part of broader humanitarian efforts aimed at easing economic hardship and providing immediate relief to deserving beneficiaries across different communities in Delta State.
She further strengthened educational support in Ughelli South Local Government Area through the donation of school bags, uniforms and sandals to students from vulnerable families.
The donations were intended to reduce financial pressures on parents while encouraging school attendance and creating an environment where children could pursue their education without unnecessary obstacles.
Her humanitarian outreach also extended to widows through the donation of wrappers and other relief materials to more than 100 beneficiaries across Delta State.
The intervention sought to improve the welfare of widows while demonstrating continued commitment to supporting vulnerable women through community-focused assistance and empowerment programmes.
Community leaders, beneficiaries and residents commended the interventions, describing them as timely responses to the economic realities confronting many households across the state.
Responding to the commendations, Ufuoma reaffirmed her commitment to promoting women empowerment, youth development and community-driven initiatives capable of improving living standards throughout Delta State.
Her contributions to women and girl-child development recently earned further recognition with her appointment by Soft Nigeria as Director General, Women and Girl-Child Mobilisation, Delta State.
Soft Nigeria promotes youth participation in governance while supporting economic empowerment through employment opportunities, structured civic engagement and initiatives designed to strengthen leadership among young people.
The Special Assistant has also sustained investment in vocational development through an Empowerment and Corset Masterclass that equipped more than 20 youths with advanced fashion and corset-making skills.
The participants received practical training under the mentorship of the fashion brand IUF Couture, enabling them to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity and improve opportunities for sustainable self-employment.
