JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) -The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center in Jackson hosted Remaking Michigan 2026: The Next Era of Manufacturing.
The event focused on how artificial intelligence is transforming the manufacturing industry and the best way to use AI as a tool to work smarter.
“Can you put a robot or co-bot in a job that is hard to keep filled. Maybe it’s a dull dirty or dangerous position so maybe you put a robot in that position to do that monotonous boring job and then you use the person you have on staff to upskill and do something more interesting and actually use them for their critical thinking,” said Ingrid Tighe, president of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center.
Tighe said AI is helping managers simplify their application process to find good candidates quicker.
She says what used to take a whole day is now roughly an hour.
