28 young men have been encouraged to become positive role models and “be the light” in their communities after completing a week-long youth empowerment programme in Suva.
The young men graduated from a week-long youth empowerment camp organised by Child Benefit Fiji and the Fiji Police Force at Sacred Heart College in Nasese.
The initiative also highlighted the Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting and guiding vulnerable youths and creating opportunities for their personal development.
While speaking at the graduation, Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran encouraged the participants to use the lessons they learned during the programme to make a positive impact in their homes and communities.
Kiran says young people have an important role to play in shaping society and urged the graduates to become role models for others.
The programme focused on several areas aimed at helping the participants develop important life skills, including leadership, teamwork, digital literacy, civic education and personal growth.
Kiran also reminded young people that support is available for those facing challenges and encouraged them to seek help when needed.
Fiji Police and programme organisers also urged the graduates to “be the light” by choosing respect, discipline, and positive change in their everyday lives.
