Ark Globe Academy has been rated ‘exceptional’ in three key areas following its latest Ofsted inspection, writes Myfanwy Fleming-Jones…
The academy at Elephant and Castle was awarded the top rating for inclusion, leadership and governance, personal development and wellbeing, and post-16 provision by Ofsted.
Educating children from the age of four right up to 18, Ark Globe was assessed under Ofsted’s new inspection framework, which aims to give families a clearer picture of schools’ strengths and areas for improvement.
Principal Matt Jones OBE said: “We are thrilled that Ofsted has recognised the incredible work of all our staff, pupils and families.
“At Ark Globe, we are committed to creating a school where every child feels they belong and can thrive, so it is particularly meaningful to see inspectors describe the school as a ‘home from home’.
“We are especially proud of the transformational impact highlighted for our pupils, including those with additional needs, and of the strong culture of inclusion and ambition that runs through everything we do.”
Ofsted praised the school’s sense of community, reporting that pupils are “delighted to attend each and every day” and “know that they belong here”. Inspectors described the academy as “a family” and a “home from home”.
The school received a ‘strong standard’ rating in the remaining areas assessed: achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, and early years provision.
