Armed Forces Provide Opportunities for Personal, Professional Development, Chief of Defence Says – БТА

The Armed Forces in today’s conditions provide opportunities for personal and professional development, Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov said on bTV ahead of Wednesday’s blessing of the battle flags and sacred banners in front of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Sofia on the occasion of the Day of Valour and Bulgarian Armed Forces Day – May 6.
This is the most noble and responsible profession in the service of society, Admiral Eftimov said.
As the most significant challenges facing the Bulgarian Armed Forces, Eftimov pointed to maintaining existing capabilities for fulfilling constitutional duties, military watch and readiness to respond, as well as ensuring the process of transformation and modernization. He noted that disruptions in supply chains, growing demand for defence products and the limited capacity of the defence industry worldwide are affecting all modernization processes.
“I am satisfied with the pace of integration of the new aircraft, and the flight personnel are acting responsibly. We raised the flag of the first multi-purpose modular patrol vessel, and we expect the second ship next year. The first armoured combat vehicles have arrived and their assembly has begun at the Ivaylo plant, and through cooperation with the United States we have also received eight vehicles, with which personnel have begun training,” the Chief of Defence added.
According to him, the Armed Forces have been developing drone-based capabilities since 2020, and are now expanding the reconnaissance and strike capabilities of drones. Eftimov added that defence spending at around 2% cannot ensure the transformation of the armed forces and the recruitment of personnel in a way that would allow adequate capabilities to be developed quickly.
The Chief of Defence called on young people to learn about life in the army and assess the opportunities for development.
