— Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets announced the launch of Seek & Savor, a statewide agritourism marketing campaign funded through a Federal-State Marketing Improvement Program grant from USDA Agricultural Marketing Service.
The campaign will run through fall 2027 and aims to increase engagement with Vermont farms, food producers and agritourism destinations. As part of the campaign, visitors can explore agritourism experiences through expanded content on VermontVacation.com. To support participation, VAAFM has developed resources available to Vermont farms and agritourism businesses, along with campaign updates, available at agriculture.vermont.gov/seeksavor.
— Vermont Farm Show is now a federally recognized nonprofit public charity organization, meaning it can now secure donations from individuals, businesses and grant sources to support its work promoting Vermont agriculture. The organization is not only accepting donations, it is also soliciting exhibitor applications for its April 2027 Farm Show, and connecting with businesses to sponsor the event. Honoring Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Beacon Bank announced free access at all branches to an on-demand service that connects visually impaired users to live, real-time guides who provide assistance through an app using the camera and microphone on the user’s mobile phone.
The Aira Explorer service is available at the bank’s 145 branches, as well as for those who require additional assistance to access visual information in online banking and the bank’s mobile app. It provides support for navigating branches, reading statements, using ATMs, making transactions, and online and mobile banking. A user downloads the free Aira Explorer app.

WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Foundation announced the appointment of Frances McLaughlin as the new executive director of Billings Farm & Museum. The appointment follows the planned retirement of David Simmons after 12 years of leadership at Billings Farm & Museum and The Woodstock Foundation and a museum career spanning more than four decades.
With more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit and educational organizations, McLaughlin most recently served as executive vice president of Billings Farm & Museum for the past 18 months. Previously, she was executive director of the Farm & Wilderness Foundation and Farm & Wilderness Conservation in nearby Plymouth from 2020-2024. She also led her own consulting and coaching firm, working with nonprofits, including the Ford Foundation, Carnegie Corp. and Wildflower Schools and Foundation.
MORRISVILLE — A potentially life-saving advancement in breast cancer detection is now available at Copley Hospital for people in northern Vermont. This Critical Access Hospital has added Contrast-Enhanced Mammography to its breast care services.
CEM combines traditional digital mammography with intravenous contrast to give radiologists a clearer, more detailed view of breast tissue. According to the National Cancer Institute, nearly half of American women have dense breast tissue, which reduces the effectiveness of standard mammograms and makes early diagnosis more challenging.
RANDOLPH — Gifford Health Care has received two recognitions awarded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, both a five-star Overall Hospital Quality Rating and a five-star Patient Survey Rating through Medicare.gov’s Care Compare program. Five stars is the highest rating possible in both categories, ratings designed to help patients and families compare hospitals nationwide and make informed decisions about where to receive care.
Gifford Health Care serves patients throughout central Vermont with primary care, specialty care, women’s health, pediatrics, emergency services, inpatient care, surgical services, rehabilitation, senior living, and community-based programs.
— Gifford Health Care welcomes Lee-Ann Gregg to its primary care team in Randolph. With more than 15 years of experience in nursing, care management, and community health, she recently completed her Master of Science in Nursing–Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of New Hampshire. At Gifford, Gregg will provide primary care for patients of all ages, with special interests in diabetes care, women’s health, menopause support, and adolescent health.
MANCHESTER — Manchester Business Association recently announced executive director John Burnham will be transitioning to a new role at the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa.
The MBA Board has appointed two of its members to serve as co-executive directors while a formal search for an executive director is underway. Adam Koffman, of Vermont.com, and Kait Zwagerman Tyler, marketing consultant, have taken the co-executive director roles effective May 26. Koffman grew up in the Manchester area; Zwagerman Tyler moved to the Manchester area in 2011 and has been involved with the MBA since 2018.

MONTPELIER — Rootstock Publishing announced the June 16 release of “The Mountain Troubadour 2026: Volume 72,” an annual literary journal featuring original poetry by Poetry Society of Vermont members. — Rootstock Publishing announced the addition of the Children’s Branch to bring picture book, middle grade, and young adult stories to young readers, guiding work from draft to a finished book with global distribution. Author Jennifer Gennari is the new Children’s Branch editor. A graduate of Vermont College of Fine Arts, Gennari’s middle-grade books have received honors, including finalist for the Georgia Children’s Book Award, an American Library Association Rainbow title, and a Bank Street Best Children’s Books of the Year selection.
RUTLAND — On May 26, Rutland Regional Medical Center attained Magnet designation for the fourth-consecutive time, announced by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The ANCC Magnet Recognition Program is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice.
ANCC evaluates Magnet applicants to gauge an organization’s nursing excellence, including quality of nursing leadership, coordination and collaboration across specialties, as well as processes for measuring and improving the quality and delivery of care.
NORTHFIELD — Norwich University announced the appointment of Sandra M. Quaye as its new chief financial officer.
Quaye brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in higher education finance and administration, along with 12 years in the private financial sector. Most recently, she served as vice president of finance and administration/CFO at Catawba College in North Carolina. Her previous CFO roles include Mount Wachusett Community College in Massachusetts and Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire.
BURLINGTON — On June 16, community leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, researchers and students from across the region will gather at the University of Vermont for the annual RISE Summit. The “Partnerships for Rural Prosperity: Building Community-University Collaboration” summit will explore how partnerships can help strengthen rural communities and expand opportunity across Vermont and beyond.
RISE stands for Research, Innovation, Sustainability, and Entrepreneurship. This year’s keynote session is “AI and the Future Rural Economy” and panelists include Kyla Kasharian, senior program associate, Siegel Family Endowment; Matt Dunne, founder/CEO, Center on Rural Innovation; Kate Mays, UVM assistant professor of public communication.

Vermont Association of Mental Health and Addiction Recovery announced it has officially been recognized as a nationally certified Recovery Friendly Workplace by the National Recovery Friendly Workplace Institute. This national certification evaluates workplace culture “rooted in compassion, inclusion, support, and opportunity for people impacted by substance use,” hiring and retention practices, employee benefits, and education and awareness categories. According to the 2026 National Recovery Friendly Workplace Report, over 60% of Americans with a substance use disorder are part of the workforce.
Vermont Chamber of Commerce and Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing announced the release of the annual Vermont Inspiration Guide, the state’s official travel publication. The guide is part of the Vermont Chamber’s Tourism Marketing Program, which leverages print and digital products to promote businesses to the 80 million people within a day’s drive of Vermont. Vermont’s visitor economy generates $4.2 billion in annual economic impact and employs 9% of the Vermont workforce.
Vermont Veterinary Medical Association announced its Certified Veterinary Assistant Program has been added to Vermont’s official list of Industry-Recognized Credentials that verify an individual’s knowledge and skills in a specific career field and are recognized by employers as evidence of workforce readiness and professional competency. The Vermont Agency of Education maintains a list of approved IRCs to help students, educators and employers identify credentials that align with industry standards and career pathways. The addition of the VVMA CVA credential to this list represents a milestone for veterinary workforce development in Vermont and recognizes the program’s value in preparing individuals for successful careers in veterinary medicine.
WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in White River Junction announced it received a five-star rating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ annual Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating report, based on five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care.
