MANCHESTER — In recognition of National Nurses Week, At Home Senior Care (AHSC) celebrates the nurses whose expertise and presence help make aging at home safer and more supported for individuals and families throughout the region.
Registered Nurses Leah Zoufaly, Kate Haller and Samantha Greene serve as the foundation of AHSC’s Care Management team. Their work includes establishing safe medication routines, monitoring health concerns, coordinating with physicians and specialists, and offering guidance during times of transition.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently announced promotion of six banking professionals to officer-level positions across the company. In Vermont, Cristy Harding has been promoted to assistant vice president, branch relationship manager for branches in Brandon and Rochester. She began working for the bank in 2006.
BARRE — Central Vermont Career Center (CVCC) has been featured in the Canopy project, an initiative bringing together K-12 schools and organizations nationwide to share what’s working in education. CVCC was recognized for its hands-on, career-connected approach to learning preparing students for in-demand careers and supporting central Vermont’s workforce needs.
SHELBURNE — Community Heart & Soul announced Karen Larsen is hired as market development associate. She brings a background in relationship management, executive support, organizational operations and community leadership. Most recently, Larsen served at National Life Group and on the Cabot Select Board.
Community Heart & Soul also announced the promotion of Sara Lightner to vice president of programs. Originally from Iowa, she served in the Peace Corps. In addition, Al Getler has also been promoted to senior vice president of market development. Getler served as the last president and publisher of the Burlington Free Press.

ESSEX JUNCTION — Hosted locally by Classic Bike Experience (CBE) in partnership with CycleWise Inc., motorcycle riders across Vermont are preparing for the ninth annual local edition of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride on Sunday, May 17. The event is part of a worldwide movement uniting more than 1,100 cities in support of men’s health. Despite its name, the ride is open to all.
Registered riders meet at 10 a.m. at CBE in Essex Junction for check-in and open house activities. Departure at noon, takes riders on a 36-mile ride to CycleWise, the local Triumph dealership in New Haven, for a reception with food, prizes and music until 4 p.m.

SHELBURNE — Shelburne Farmers Market opens with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 16, to launch the new season. The three-season market brings more than 80 local farm, food and artisan vendors weekly to sell produce and products. Admission is free. It is held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday on the Shelburne Parade Grounds, located at Shelburne Road and Church Street.

SOUTH BURLINGTON — Health care, workforce and government leaders gathered to welcome six surgical technician apprentices, as part of observances celebrating National Apprenticeship Week. At the signing and welcome event held at UVM Health’s IDX Campus, aspiring surgical technologists also celebrated federal funding that will expand health care careers training across Vermont.
The group is the first cohort of the health system’s Surgical Technologist Registered Apprenticeship Program. The program will train apprentices while they work in surgical settings at University of Vermont Health’s Central Vermont Medical Center, Porter Medical Center and UVM Medical Center. It combines paid employment with classroom instruction and mentored, on‑the‑job learning. Apprentices earn wages and credentials while gaining hands‑on experience in operating rooms, without the burden of tuition costs. The program was made possible by federal funding secured by U.S. Sen. Peter Welch, which was awarded earlier this year to JobForward, a partnership between the Institute for American Apprenticeships and Training Funding Partners. UVM Health worked with the group to develop the multi‑hospital apprenticeship model.
MIDDLEBURY — UVM Health–Porter Medical Center Board of Trustees welcomes Taylor Morley. She brings experience in health care leadership, system transformation and community-based behavioral health. Morely currently serves as executive director of Counseling Services of Addison County. She previously served as chief operating officer and general counsel for Victory Programs Inc. in Boston, Massachusets.
BURLINGTON — Big Change Roundup for Kids (BCRU), radio station 98.9 WOKO’s annual campaign supporting family-centered care delivered at UVM Health Golisano Children’s Hospital, hosted an event bringing together volunteers, businesses and individual donors to raise $319,693 that will directly support pediatric patients and families.
Dr. Lewis First, the nation’s longest-serving chair of Pediatrics and who has led the children’s hospital for more than 30 years, will retire at the end of June.
Also, event organizers surprised a mother/BCRU supporter with the inaugural Victory for Kids Award. Amie Vradenburg received the award in honor of her work raising more than $208,000 in support of the hospital. The award is named in honor of the late Susan Victory, a children’s services professional who worked at then-UVM Children’s Hospital for nearly 44 years, retiring in 2021 as senior administrative coordinator.
FAIRLEE — Early childhood professionals from across Vermont gathered April 29 at Lake Morey Resort for the Vermont Parent Child Center Network’s (VPCCN) fourth annual Innovations Conference. The conference brought together staff from all 15 Parent Child Centers as opportunity for a geographically dispersed workforce to come together, learn from one another, and build connections.
The day began with activities led by emcee-for-the-day, VPCCN Chair and Lamoille Family Center Executive Director Carol Lang-Godin. VPCCN Director Ellen Amstutz followed with a welcome and then guest speakers Vermont Department for Children and Families Deputy Commissioner Janet McLaughlin, and Building Bright Futures Deputy Director Beth Truzansky. The conference featured a keynote address by Harvard University Center on the Developing Child Chief Science Officer Lindsey Burghardt. Attendees participated in workshops.
The VPCCN Innovations Conference is made possible through support of partners, including the A.D. Henderson Foundation and the Couch Family Foundation.
Vermont Works for Women joins the Vermont Green Football Club for the More Green More Good partnership during the inaugural season of the club’s women’s team. The Vermont Green Football Club, founded in 2022, is a member of the United Soccer League and earned its first men’s national championship last year after going undefeated for the season. After hosting exhibition games for two seasons, the club is launching a full women’s team this summer.
Through the partnership, the two organizations are expanding opportunities for female athletes while directly supporting Vermont women. Three women-owned businesses signed on as inaugural partners, providing sponsorships to Vermont Green and pledging $50 per home goal to support VWW statewide programs. The 2026 More Green More Good partners include BirdieBlue, GameTheory, and Ursa Major.
More Green More Good partners will be tabling at games May 23 and June 22 to share more about programming and services. On June 22, there will be an on-field presentation of the More Green More Good sponsors.
