From 2025
I tend to describe myself as an old soul in many ways. Chief among them is my undying allegiance to terrestrial sports radio. Few things bring a distinct level of comfort to me like listening to baseball game on the radio. That not withstanding, I’m not a complete dinosaur. Like everybody else I have my weekly mix of podcasts that provide me entertainment and insights.
So with that in mind, in D CEO’s August issue, we set out to uncover what podcasts were in Dallas business leaders’ rotation. These are the shows percolating within their earbuds:
The Mel Robbins Podcast and her episode on the ‘Let Them Theory’ is great. She says, ‘When you let them do whatever it is they want to do, it creates more control for you and a better relationship with the people in your life.’”
Sharon Morrison, Cresa
“My favorite podcast is The Daily by The New York Times. It covers a wide range of news stories and subject experts. I love that it is fact-based and unbiased. And because it covers various topics, you’re always learning something new. The 30-minute length is perfect to listen to in the car. The biggest takeaway is to have an open mind and continuously learn.”
Marijke Lantz Flowers, Billingsley Co.
“Everyone should listen to the Huberman Lab podcast. The episodes are no-nonsense discussions about health, wellness, neuroscience, and behavior. Huberman makes complex scientific concepts accessible and actionable.”
Jenny Martinez, Munck Wilson Mandala
Dare to Lead with Brené Brown is my pick. Small intentional changes can make all the difference when you instill a commitment to improving while understanding that motivation comes from results, and results come from discipline.”
Jessie Quick Stanton, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas
“My two favorite business teachers are Simon Sinek and Gary Vaynerchuck. Specifically, Gary, a theorist and practitioner, recently went on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast to be interviewed and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Amber Venz Box, LTK
“I love Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ podcast, Wiser Than Me. She interviews iconic women, such as Carol Burnett, Debbie Allen, and Gloria Steinem, who share their
wisdom that only comes through experience.”
Sakina Rasheed Foster, Haynes Boone
This American Life on NPR. I just finished one on the production of Hamlet inside a maximum-security prison. The inmates discovering their vulnerabilities is uplifting, while the commitment of their time is equally inspiring.”
Caren Lock, TIAA
