A free Healthy Living Forum focused on wellness for adults aged 50+ is set to take this week in Altona.
The event, hosted by The Gardens on Tenth, will bring together health professionals, community organizations, and interactive exhibitors for a full day of education and connection.
Life Enrichment Coordinator Carissa Kiansky says the forum is designed to support overall health and well-being.
“This event is focused on healthy living, supporting health and wellness for adults 50-plus,” said Kiansky. “Attendees can expect a variety of engaging speakers, interactive booths, and opportunities to connect with professionals.”
The forum will cover a broad spectrum of topics, including physical health, brain health, nutrition, medication management, and safety.
Attendees will also have access to hands-on services, including free hearing tests and biometric screening exams. Participants are encouraged to register in advance for these screenings, as space is limited, and to bring their health card for certain services.
Several organizations are expected to take part, including the Alzheimer Society, HearingLife Canada, CancerCare Manitoba, Southern Health, and Active Aging Manitoba. A registered dietitian will also be among the presenters.
Kiansky says the event is open to anyone interested in learning more about healthy living, even if they are not in the target age group.
"Whether you're looking for resources, wanting to stay active and independent, or supporting a loved one, there's always some information that we can share," she said.
The Healthy Living Forum will take place Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Gardens on Tenth in Altona.
While the event is free to attend, advance registration is required due to limited space.
Those interested can register by calling 204-324-8945 or by emailing le@gardensontenth.ca. Attendees are also encouraged to book any desired screenings at the time of registration.
Kiansky notes the event is made possible through community support and sponsorships, including contributions from Southeast Air Service, Cole and Mace Law Office, Sun Valley Tire, Rhineland Car, and Altona Farm Service.
She adds the organization is always open to forming new partnerships with local businesses and groups interested in supporting future programming.
"We're always open to building ongoing partnerships within the community," said Kiansky. "Sponsorships help us continue offering meaningful programs and events like this."
