LONDON MARCH 2026: Cultural futurist and ICONIC founder James Kirkham and production company TellTale are launching a new podcast called StoryC, exploring the role of storytelling in the modern media economy.
Produced by TellTale’s multi-award-winning executive producer Jago Lee, StoryCo brings together leading thinkers from the worlds of AI, film, advertising and digital media to examine how story functions as both cultural force and commercial engine.
Kirkham and Lee decided to launch the podcast amid a shift from the attention economy to what Kirkham describes as the story economy: a new era where film and television are merging with online media, brands are behaving like mini-studios, and creators are building expansive worlds.
Hosted by Kirkham, each episode will explore a special guest’s creative origin story, defining projects and where they think storytelling is headed next, with the aim of inspiring CMOs, strategists, producers and founders who want to know more about what makes for great storytelling.
StoryCo launches on Thursday, 26th March with guest John Yorke, ex-drama head at Channel 4 and author of “Into the Woods”, whose conversation with Kirkham starts with the tribal origins of storytelling and brings it right up to Trump-era political discourse.
Other guests lined up include legendary PR guru Mark Borkowski; true crime doyenne Charlie Webster; Andrew Lownie; Royal biographer, literary agent and author (The Rise & Fall of The House of York); wellbeing entrepreneur Ryan Hopkins; author, psychotherapist and former global talent executive Kathleen Saxton; writer, lawyer and surfer Alex Wade.
StoryCo will be available to watch on Spotify and distributed as audio to Apple Podcasts. The visual podcast also appears on YouTube, with cutdowns across LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. It is sponsored by TYX Studios in King’s Cross and recorded in their new premium studio.
Kirkham has spent more than 20 years at the intersection of digital culture and brand building. He co-founded Holler, one of the UK’s earliest digital agencies, where he led groundbreaking work in social media marketing, including what is widely regarded as the first campaign to market a TV show using social media, for Channel 4’s Skins. The agency went on to become multi-award-winning, earning Digital Agency of the Year and contributing to Kirkham’s recognition in the BIMA Hall of Fame.
More recently, he launched ICONIC, where he advises brands on navigating cultural shifts, the post-algorithm era, and the evolving dynamics of fandom and attention.
Jago Lee is an award-winning producer celebrated for his work in factual programming. In 2021, he launched TellTale which produces hit podcasts for brands, platforms and institutions. Titles include Intoxicating History; Sixteen Sunsets; Love Janessa and Educating Daisy. He is the former head of documentaries for Tiger Aspect and founder of Nerd TV.
Kirkham said: “Story has always been humanity’s principal sales tool and best hope for a brighter future. But now that we’re living in a time where narrative drives everything from brand strategy to political power, story has become the key to our survival as a species. StoryCo is about unpacking how the best storytelling in the world works and how we can all learn from it in order to improve our lives.”
