Let’s get the obvious out of the way, here: dads can be tough to buy for.
They tell you they don’t want anything but you’re not sure if they mean it.
You don’t want to pick something out they might not wear, yet a gift card is predictable and impersonal.
So, what to do?
Perhaps consider a high-tech toy for Father’s Day this year.
A gadget gift may be just what your dad could use – even though he may not know it – and so the following are ten top suggestions.
The just-launched Google Fitbit Air ($129) is a super comfortable, screenless fitness band that passively tracks key health metrics – like heart rate, sleep, and 40-plus kinds of exercises – and sends all the data to the Google Health app on a smartphone (iOS, Android).
Optional, but Google Health Premium (formerly Fitbit Premium; for $9.99/month) acts like a personal trainer, leveraging Gemini AI to deliver custom coaching and actionable insights.
Available in multiple colours, the micro-adjustable band fits comfortably, with water resistance up to 50 metres. Battery lasts up to a week, while a fast-charging feature yields one full day of battery life in just five minutes.

Ideal for garages, workshops, home gyms or man caves, the Ultrabrite Hex Lights from Enbrighten ($129; costco.ca) are a modular, customizable LED lighting system that lets you build eye-catching honeycomb or hexagonal layouts. The snap-together kit includes 24 light bars and connectors, plus you can add more, if desired.
And they’re called “Ultrabrite” for a reason, as they can produce a total output up to 24,000 lumens. Included is a remote (or wall switch) for dimming or to adjust the intensity of light.
Small in size but big on performance, the SANDISK Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive (from $37 for 64GB) is an ultra-compact solution designed for those who need fast, portable storage that stays plugged in without bulk. Rather than paying for cloud backup, keep this diminutive device snapped into your laptop’s USB-C to quickly transfer, store and access photos, videos and other files – or transfer them across compatible hardware.
Speeds top 400 megabits per second, and capacity maxes out at a whopping 1 terabyte of space (for a fraction of the cost of a new computer).
If dad likes to read and he hasn’t yet tried an eReader, the Kobo Clara BW ($179) features a six-inch glare-free touchscreen, which he can take from the couch to the hammock to the coffee shop – or even to the pool or beach, as it’s fully waterproof.
Text looks crisp on the E Ink Carta 1300 HD screen, plus there’s the ComfortLight PRO to adjust brightness, colour temperature and blue light. Not only could the 16GB of storage hold thousands of books, this Kobo plays audiobooks, too, streamed to a nearby pair of Bluetooth headphones or a wireless speaker.
For dads or grads who love gaming, Nintendo Switch 2 is the only console that gives you the versatility to play at home or on the go. And now there’s the Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle ($699), which includes a Nintendo Switch 2 system and a download code for one select digital game: Pokémon Pokopia, Mario Kart World or, my favourite, Donkey Kong Bananza.
Speaking of value, current Nintendo Switch owners will be happy to know many of their favourite games can be transferred and played on Nintendo Switch 2. Included in the box is a dock to play on your big-screen TV.
From ECOVACS – the no. 1 robotic window cleaner brand globally – comes its latest model, the WINBOT W3 OMNI. This is the company’s most advanced and premium window robot, designed to make cleaning safer, easier and hands-free – especially for large windows, highrise condos and other hard-to-reach glass.
Plus, it can also wash the inside of windows or tall shower doors. As a handy feature, the OMNI station, which sits on the ground, automatically washes the WINBOT’s pads so you don’t have to.
It’s currently $899 but WINBOT W3 OMNI will be on sale through Amazon Prime Day at Amazon.ca.
If it’s time to upgrade the family television, especially during FIFA World Cup season, Samsung’s brand-new Micro RGB TVs provide brighter colour, deeper contrast and smoother motion – all thanks to individual red, green and blue backlights.
Enhancing the image even further, Samsung Vision AI intelligently optimizes picture and sound, whether you’re watching live sports, movies, TV shows, or playing games. Prices start at $1999 for the 55-inch model (R85H), but sizes go all the way up to an incredible 115 inches (wall size and budget permitting).
To turn a regular TV into a Smart TV, the Amazon Fire TV Stick HD ($49; 2026 model) is the slimmest and fastest streaming device from Amazon. It plugs right into your television’s HDMI port and draws power directly from a USB port, so no extra wall plug is needed.
The fresh new interface helps you find content you want faster, from both free and paid services, and more personalized recommendations. The new Alexa Voice Remote lets you use your voice to ask for content to watch (or anything else Alexa can help you with), and free for Prime members, the new Alexa+ upgrade offers a much smarter and more conversational experience.
Does dad like to stay active? Powerbeats Fit ($249) are small and stylish earbuds designed for intense workouts. That’s because these small buds feature soft, flexible wingtips that lock securely into your ears and are completely sweat and water-resistant.
Pair them wirelessly with your phone to get punchy bass, effective active noise cancellation (ANC) and exceptional clarity for when a call comes in. In one of four colours, they offer up to 30 hours of battery life with the matching case – with each bud delivering up to seven hours of playback per charge.
Maybe dad thinks he’s a great griller but he could use a little help? On sale for $30 off, MEATER Plus ($119) enables you barbecue with confidence – as this wireless probe, with multiple sensors, communicates your food’s internal temperature (and grill’s ambient temp), up to 165 feet away (via Bluetooth), to its companion app on a smartphone or tablet.
In other words, throw whatever you like on the grill – beef, lamb, chicken, pork or fish – and you’ll be notified when it’s time to flip your food (based on your desired doneness) and remove it from the grill, plus it houses other handy features.
