Alright, let me ask you this: what is the purpose of life?
And before you answer this one, remember: there is only one right answer…
In my opinion, it’s the pursuit of happiness, so cheers to you if you got that right.
The best part is, only you get to decide what makes you happy.
So, look inside for yours this morning. Because the outside is busy pursuing its own happiness.
I keep saying I’m all about change.
Until someone reschedules a meeting by 15 minutes… then I’m prone to reacting like that’s going to ruin my entire day.
I pray for motion… then panic when anything moves even a millimeter out of place.
That has got to be another paradox of being so beautifully human, right? Wanting a different view, but refusing to stray off the beaten path?
Every Sunday after church, my family had this tradition: pancakes. Always pancakes. My dad swore he could flip them higher than anyone in the entire neighborhood. Once, he actually sent one so high it stuck to the ceiling. Mom wasn’t thrilled about it, but my siblings and I? Our jaws dropped like we’d just watched a world record in the making. We happily volunteered to get that flippin’ pancake off the ceiling. And after about an hour and a half, we did.
Now I make pancakes alone sometimes, and I don’t make ’em half bad, I’ll admit. But the older I get, the more I realize it wasn’t even about the pancakes. It was my mother’s lively kitchen. My siblings’ laughter. My dad’s ceiling incident. The feeling of being part of a moment that was so much bigger than myself. Isn’t it funny how you can recreate the recipe… but never the era? So tell me, did your Sundays have their own moments of magic too? You know I’d love to hear it.
There’s this very simple breathing manifestation exercise I’ve been wanting to share with you. It hardly takes two minutes, but it’s been working wonders for me:
Breathe in, and think about what you wish you had more of.
Breathe out, then think about all that you wish you carried less of.
Try it as many times as you need. You’d be surprised at how something this small can help declutter the rest of your day.
Did you know that making the tiniest decisions, like what to eat or what to wear, gives the brain a sense of control and reduces anxiety?
Science calls this perceived control.
For me, just choosing blueberry yogurt over strawberry felt so oddly empowering today that I had a five-minute conversation with my friend Mark about the benefits of blueberries.
Sometimes even your brain needs to be reminded that you’re the one steering the ship. And I’m sure you’re one heck of a captain.
Remembering AND completing all your chores before leaving the house
Right as I was locking the door this morning, I had one of those rare adult epiphanies: Take the meat out to thaw. Usually, I remember this around 6 PM, standing in the kitchen like a disappointed sitcom dad. But today? Today I caught it in time. It might sound small, but man… that moment felt like a win. Like my brain and my schedule finally shook hands and said, “Let’s not make tonight any harder than it needs to be.” When life gives you moments of alignment like that, take ‘em. Celebrate ‘em. And let the whole thing matter.
