The government has directed people to opt for piped natural gas instead of LPG, and the supply of LPG will be discontinued if the supply is not switched within three months of non-compliance, as per a new pipeline distribution order issued for the year 2026. The order was issued by the Petroleum Ministry on March 24. The objective of this order is to reduce LPG shortages caused by disturbances in West Asian countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the Rajya Sabha that the West Asia war has triggered a severe global energy crisis, disrupting India’s fuel, fertilizer and trade supplies, and straining routes like the Strait of Hormuz. A discrepancy of a suspected fixed deposit worth ₹150 crores has been found between the Panchkula Municipal Corporation and Kotak Mahindra Bank. A fixed deposit worth ₹58 crores was found by the officials, which did not exist. The bank claims that everything is in order, and reconciliation is under way. A police complaint has been filed.
This incident comes after a recent fraud worth ₹590 crores was detected from the accounts related to the Haryana government at the IDFC First Bank.
