A primary school is celebrating a glowing Ofsted report.
Ashbury with Compton Beauchamp Church of England Primary School was praised for its ‘excellent start’ for children, strong personal development, and highly effective pastoral support.
The recent inspection highlighted many strengths across the school, including a Strong standard in both Early Years and Personal Development, and described the school as having a ‘strong sense of community’.

“It is especially pleasing to see recognition of the excellent start our youngest children receive, and the way our older pupils act as strong role models in our small village school.”
Inspectors noted purposeful teaching, rich language development, and carefully planned play and learning opportunities.
Older pupils were also commended for supporting younger children and contributing to a nurturing school environment.
The report praised the school’s ‘highly effective’ pastoral support and noted that staff know pupils extremely well and ensure that children feel safe, supported, and able to succeed.
The inspection found safeguarding arrangements to be effective and confirmed that pupils are well cared for.
Mr Miller said: “We are also delighted that the report highlights our highly effective pastoral support and the strength of our personal development offer.
“These are central to our ethos and ensure children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
“While we are proud of these strengths, we remain focused on continuing to improve outcomes for all pupils.”
Pupils were described as confident, respectful, and actively involved in school life, with opportunities to develop character and take on responsibility.

Ofsted identified areas for further development, noting that some pupils still have gaps in their learning and that curriculum changes are still being embedded.
School leaders have already acted, with improvements evident in reading and writing and a continued focus on strengthening mathematics.
The school remains committed to ensuring that every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally within its inclusive, caring, and ambitious community.
